Das begleitende Musikvideo zeigt Mühlhoff mit einem speziellen Helm, der ihm ermöglicht, die Welt durch wunderschöne Videoprojektionen neu zu erleben – ein Sinnbild für die Wirkung der Musik, die Schönheit schafft, selbst wenn das Außen düster ist.
„Green Yellow Yellow“ ist nicht nur ein Vorbote für das kommende Debütalbum Truth and Dare (erscheint im Februar), sondern hebt sich als Pop-orientierter Track deutlich von den bisherigen chilligen, atmosphärischen Klanglandschaften ab. Wo sich die anderen Songs auf dem Album zwischen Chillwave, Ambient Rock und Downbeat bewegen, ist „Green Yellow Yellow“ mit seinem prägnanten Intro, eingängigen Chorus und robotischen Vocals fast hymnisch – und erinnert an Daft Punk, aber ohne den klassischen Clubsound. „Ich liebe diesen französischen Stil“, sagt Mühlhoff, „und diese Robot-Stimmen haben diese etwas Unmenschliche, was perfekt zum Thema des Songs passt.“ Die Stimmen, die mantraartig die Farben beschwören, verstärken die hypnotische Wirkung.
Für die neue Single konnte Mühlhoff auch Rafael Anton Irisarri gewinnen. Der New Yorker Produzent und Komponist, der das gesamte Album gemastert hat, steuerte eine sphärische Ambient-Version von „Green Yellow Yellow“ bei, die die Tiefen des Originals weiter auslotet.

In this turmoil, we experience phases where we swing between a feeling of helplessness and the urge to celebrate—just to forget the chaos for a moment. This is where millhope’s new single, “Green Yellow Yellow,” comes in. It’s a song for immersing yourself, letting go, and silencing everything else. “For me, this track is like a personal escape room,” says Thomas Mühlhoff of millhope. “Music you can dive into to tune out the rest.”
The Music Video: A New Perspective on the World
The accompanying music video shows Mühlhoff wearing a special helmet that allows him to experience the world through beautiful video projections—a metaphor for the power of music to create beauty, even in darker times.
“Green Yellow Yellow” is not only a preview of the upcoming debut album Truth and Dare (set for release in February), but it also stands out as a pop-oriented track with a unique sound compared to the album’s other dreamy, atmospheric landscapes. While the rest of the album explores Chillwave, Ambient Rock, and Downbeat, “Green Yellow Yellow” has a hook-driven structure with a distinct intro, chorus, and robotic vocals. It echoes Daft Punk, yet without the classic club vibe. “I love that French style,” Mühlhoff explains, “and these robot voices have a kind of unearthly quality that fits the song’s theme.” The voices chant colors in a mantra-like way, intensifying the song’s hypnotic effect.
For the new single, Mühlhoff collaborated with Rafael Anton Irisarri. The New York-based producer and composer, who also mastered the entire album, contributed a sweeping ambient version of “Green Yellow Yellow” that further explores the depths of the original.
